The construction of the first electric power plant from forest biomass began in Corrientes

The company FRESA (Fuentes Renovables de Energía SA), made up of Grupo Benicio and Grupo Insud, will invest 60 million dollars in the plant. The plant will produce 40 MW of electricity from forest biomass to supply the National Interconnected System. During the ceremony, Governor Ricardo Colombi highlighted the importance of generating alternative energy and in a factory of private investors.

In an official ceremony this afternoon, which convened businessmen, officials and representatives of the national, provincial and local executive, legislators and special guests, shareholders of the new firm announced the completion of the project and formalized the start of construction works Of the electric energy production plant from forest biomass, with a symbolic act of laying the foundational stone.

Attending the inauguration of the works, the intendant of Virasoro, Blanca Beatriz Pintos; Representatives of the Insud Group, led by its CEO, Hugo Sigman; And the Benicio Group, and the president of the Benicio Group, José Cartellone; Among other managers. Although the presence of the President of the Nation, Mauricio Macri, was foreseen, for agenda reasons, he did not attend the event.

The new plant will diversify the energy matrix, contribute to the industrial development of the area and generate new jobs with skilled labor.

It will be, until now, the largest electric generator in the country from forest residues, and the first in the province of Corrientes.

The plant will be located in the town of Gobernador Virasoro, Corrientes, at kilometer 759 of the National Route 14, in an area that has 214,000 hectares of implanted forests, of the company.

FRESA will generate electricity from chips, sawdust and bark of pine and eucalyptus; And biomass from dry wood, forest materials that currently do not have an industrial use.

Sustainable Business

“I am very grateful for the contribution of this plant to make Virasoro an industrial pole. It will generate productive capacity, commercial exchange and qualified employment, “explained Hugo Sigman, CEO of Grupo Insud.
